This brand-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 XLE came into our Kearny Mesa shop with damage along its entire left side, from the front bumper back to the rear bumper. Here's what we did to put it right.
The repair
- Repaired the scratches on the left side of the front bumper. We repaired and refinished the scuffed corner of the bumper so it matches the rest of the car.
- Repaired the dent in the left fender. The fender was straightened and refinished rather than replaced.
- Replaced the left front and rear door shells. The initial estimate called for repairing the damaged front door. After looking closely at the damage, we pushed back on safety and repair quality and got approval for new door shells on both the left front and rear doors, so this RAV4 came back right instead of patched. We moved the parts over to the new shells and refinished them to match.
- Repaired the dent in the left quarter panel. We worked the dent out of the quarter panel behind the rear door and refinished it.
- Repaired the left rear bumper cover. The rear bumper cover was repaired and refinished to match the rest of the side.
- Performed ADAS calibrations and scans. ADAS stands for advanced driver-assistance systems. These are the cameras and radar behind features like blind-spot warnings and lane keeping. Replacing doors and disconnecting electrical can throw sensor aim off, so we scanned the vehicle and calibrated the systems back to the factory spec. That way the RAV4 is safe as well as good-looking.
