This 2025 Honda Civic came into our Kearny Mesa shop with a damaged left rear door. Here's what we did to put it right.
The repair
- Replaced the left rear door shell. Instead of repairing the damaged door, we installed a new door shell, moved the parts over, and refinished it to match.
- Blended the left front door, left quarter panel, and left uniside. A new panel can be painted the exact factory color and still look a shade off next to original paint that's been out in the sun. Blending means we fade the new color out into the panels around it so the change happens gradually and your eye can't find a line. That's why the panels next to the rear door got paint even though they weren't damaged.
- Performed ADAS calibrations. ADAS stands for advanced driver-assistance systems. These are the cameras and radar behind features like blind-spot warnings and lane keeping. Pulling a door, swapping parts, and disconnecting electrical can throw sensor aim off. If a sensor reads even slightly wrong, a safety feature might warn you late or not at all. Calibrating brings them back to the factory spec, so the car is safe as well as good-looking.
